Chaleur potatoes are round or oval shaped with smooth, buff skin and white flesh. This early maturing variety is a great all-purpose potato, meaning they are excellent for boiling, baking, salads, and french fries. They have a creamy taste and texture, and are a favourite for restaurants and chips trucks as the skin doesn't need to be peeled.
This is a 100% Canadian variety that was developed by the Government of Canada in Fredericton, New Brunswick at the Agriculture Canada Research Station. It was released in 1988 and has been a widely-loved favourite ever since.
